Create: Data Analysis¶
M-Star CFD provides a suite of data analysis tools that allow users to extract deeper insight from their simulations by defining custom regions, metrics, and distributions within the flow field. These tools support everything from zone-based aggregation and residence-time analysis to histogram generation and control-volume evaluation, enabling users to tailor their outputs to the specific spatial or statistical detail required for their application.
Zonal Analysis: The zonal analysis feature lets users define interrogation volumes by specifying the number of zones in the x, y, and z directions, after which the solver calculates and reports aggregate data for each zone at every statistic time step.
Mean Age: This tool allows the user to track mean age. The transient mean age is the average time that molecules at a given location have spent in the system. It also represents the mean residence time of molecules at that location, and for a single-outlet system, the outlet mean age equals the volume-averaged mean residence time.
Histogram: A distribution created by collecting observation values—optionally weighted—on either a voxel or particle basis and sorting them into bins defined by a start range, end range, and number of bins.
Control Volume: The control volume allows the user to define a specific region of the flow domain that serves as a “control volume,” and then compute and extract simulation data (e.g. fluid/particle properties averaged over that volume) for just that region.
