AWS Prerequisites

Choose an Instance

A GPU Instance is a combination of GPU slices and GPU engines (DMAs, NVDECs, etc.). An Instance describes the sort of hardware you are running on. When you choose an Instance, you also have to consider how many GPUs you need.

  • Refer to the Amazon instance types here: https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/

  • Go to the “Accelerated Computing” section

  • Page through each of the Instance options

  • Select an instance that has the following attributes:

    • 1+ NVidia GPUs

    • Intel or AMD CPU. Must be x86 64bit to run the GUI and Solver

    • Arm CPU is supported for selected solver only builds. The GUI is not available for ARM architectures

Establish Quota

By default, AWS accounts can only access resources for which they have sufficient quota established. The quota describes how much of the hardware you are using in GPUs and in memory. On the AWS service quotas page, you can request the quota you want. If you have a new account, you will need to request a quota increase for the type of Instance you need to access.
