Probe

Introduction

Static probes are points inside a fluid domain that record the time-evolution of local fluid properties (e.g. velocity, pressure, vorticity, energy dissipation rate, etc.). For static probes, users specify a probe location and a probe sampling time interval. The data is printed to a probeData file. The position of static probes remains constant over the duration of a simulation.

Definition

Fixed - Probe fixed in space.

Fluid Tracer - Probe follows motion of fluid as a tracer particle

Inertial Particle - Probe follows motion of fluid as an inertial particle

Prescribed Motion - Probes moves according to motion UDF

  • Position X UDF - m | This UDF defines the probe position as a function of time. This is a System UDF.

  • Position Y UDF - m | This UDF defines the probe position as a function of time. This is a System UDF.

  • Position Z UDF - m | This UDF defines the probe position as a function of time. This is a System UDF.
