Menu

The menu gives instructions to the software.​ The menu bar is located directly below the title bar and it displays the menu.

Component	Description
File	Load files and interact with the system.
	New: Open an existing file. New from template: Open a preconfigured input file with predefined fluids, motion types, and physics. Open: Access and read a file. Recent Files: Open a recent preprocessing file. Save: Save the current file. Save As: Specify the name and location of the file you are saving. Import CAD Assembly: Import an entire CAD geometry file and assign different parts within that assembly to different families. See also CAD Assembly Explorer. Export Parameter Sweep: Export a parameter sweep to output directories, export the individual case directories associated with the parameter sweep, and launch the queue. Export Solver Files: Saves the XML and STL files used as input to M-Star Solve. Export files for evaluation elsewhere. Export Solver XML File Only: Only export the XML and not the STL files. Export Geometry: Save the created geometry in generic CAD format. Quit: Exit the program.
Edit	Interact with the model.
	Undo: Undo recent changes to the model. Redo: Restore an action that was previously undone. Cut: Cut a parent or children and add to the clipboard. Copy: Copy one or more children geometry to the clipboard. If you copy a parent with children, the children will also be copied. Important: If you have a child geometry, it can only be copied to other extant parents. You cannot have an orphan, you need a destination family. Parents will be copied with their extant children. Paste: Paste one or more children geometry directly to a parent. Duplicate Object: Can be applied to either parents or children. Clone the object with same properties and position. Duplicate Object Pattern: Items can be duplicated in linear, arc, or mirror orientation. Delete: Remove from model. Unit Settings: Control the length and viscosity units (default length scale) used to characterize physical values. Change UP Direction: This is a convenience function. Align the fluid up direction with your model’s orientation. Change the orientation used to define the direction of fluid height boxes and the default direction of gravity. Preferences: Control preferences.
View	Change the representation of the 3D view and program measurement options.
	Fit: Fit current view to screen. Reset 3D: Reset 3D image. X+: Access-aligned camera view looking in the X+ direction. X-: Access-aligned camera view looking in the X- direction. Y+: Access-aligned camera view looking in the Y+ direction. Y-: Access-aligned camera view looking in the Y- direction. Z+: Access-aligned camera view looking in the Z+ direction. Z-: Access-aligned camera view looking in the Z- direction. Toggle Log Window: Show/hide the log window. Toggle Domain Dimensions: Show/hide dimensions in the 3D viewing screen. Toggle World Origin: Show/hide trihedron at global basis. Toggle Show Names: Show/hide names of all the objects in the 3D view.
Tools	Find tools to facilitate the use of M-Star.
	Volume Calculator: Automatically calculate a fluid height corresponding to a user set volume. See tutorial. Display Excel columns: Shows all the Excel files, column names, and associated options available Create Parameter Sweep:

	Add Event Detector: Create Patch: The Create Patch Form can be used to patch holes or openings inside static body geometry. Add Pipe: The Add Pipe form is used to add pipes to parametric tank child geometry.
