move Move

Introduction

The Move form has three translation options. This allows one- to three-dimensional translation through free drag or point-to-point snapping.

Access

Select the geometry you want to move and the name of the geometry will appear in the context specific toolbar with the available commands. Select Move, and the options to use Free - World Aligned, Free - Body Aligned, or Snap translation mode will appear.

Translation Mode

○ Free - World Aligned Axes

When you hover the mouse over a vector of the trihedron axis, that dimension will be highlighted. Selecting X, Y, or Z vectors will offer one dimensional displacement. Selecting the hypotenuse between any of these vectors will enable free range three-dimensional displacement.

○ Free - Body Aligned Axes

When you hover the mouse over a vector of the trihedron axis, that body-relative dimension will be highlighted. Selecting the local X, Y, or Z vectors will constrain movement to that body’s coordinate axes. Selecting the hypotenuse between any of these vectors will enable displacement in free range relative to the body’s orientation.

○ Snap

A selection of blue snap points will appear. First select the snap point on the object you would like to move, then select the snap point on the location where you would like to move your object. A yellow frame of the object will appear on the desired destination. Select OK to complete the translation.
